Ahhh, the moment has finally come: My daughter has said mama! According to me, two months ago she said mama for the first time while sitting on the couch and being recorded for the grandparents. According to everyone else, that was a figment of my imagination. I side with the majority, now, regarding that past occurrence. What was heard was more of a murmur than any recognition. However, as of three days ago, there is no dispute: My baby knows who I am.
It happened while my little clan and I were sitting around one evening, watching Baby First TV. I went to the kitchen to check on the spaghetti that was boiling in the pot on the stove, and when I turned to leave the room, Taylor yelled, “Mamamamama!” She certainly had all of my attention, as well as my husband’s attention, then. I no longer have to be secretly jealous of my husband, because Taylor constantly showers him with loving purrs of dada. Finally, I can relish in the joy the sweet sounds of mama brings!
She knows a few other words like dog, hey and no. She even knows several phrases like uh-oh, bye-bye, and thank- you, which sounds more like tank with an extremely faint k. It amazes me how she has acquired such a vocabulary! Watching her develop is like watching a miracle being performed. It is simply amazing.
