Last week, my husband and I celebrated three years of marriage. Though the rain caused a change in our plans, we enjoyed our lunch date together at Emeril’s, in downtown New Orleans. During our date, we reflected on the past three years of marriage and our past five years of knowing each other. We could not help but think of all of our blessings and recall all of the things we now have that we never thought we would.
I must tell you we were in a bit of an amorous state because prior to our lunch date we had our third 3D ultrasound. We were finally able to see our little Taylor Miriam’s chubby cheeks and button nose! Seeing my baby girl made me think of a time when I did not plan to start a family at this age, but now that I am, I am incredibly overjoyed.
Blessings come in many forms: Sometimes they are things that you hope for, and sometimes they are the things you receive and never knew you wanted. I’m feeling unbelievably blessed because I am married to an incredible husband who supports me and loves me unconditionally. I’m unbelievably blessed because I’m expecting this amazing bundle of joy in about six weeks, give or take. I’m unbelievably blessed because I have a place to call home and a family that loves and supports me.
All of my blessings may seem simple and common to some, but they are unbelievable for me! Sometimes when I start complaining about the back pains, strains, acid reflux and sleepless nights, I have to think about the blessing of being entrusted with the responsibility of carrying this amazing little girl.
Have you stopped and counted your blessings today? During your pregnancy or parenthood journey, what have you felt unbelievably blessed with?
