WEEK 23
Ready to Jump Ship
With all the excitement of having a baby, we have not really thought much about where the baby will sleep or live in our three-bedroom apartment. When I asked my daughter, Marlee, if she would like to share her room if the baby is a girl, she responded by telling me that she hopes it’s a boy. My son Bradley now wants it to be a girl so he doesn’t have to share a room. Also, he wants to be my one-and-only prince! The children then decided that the baby could sleep on our terrace. Well, that is not going to work either. They then decided that if Daddy moves out, there would be room for the baby. No, that is not happening. So, in a panic, we have decided to put our apartment on the market and make a move for a bigger one in our neighborhood.
Getting the apartment ready to show people has been no easy task. I have not stopped cleaning, organizing and weeding through the kids’ toys and “cleaning house,” as they say. After cleaning so much, our apartment looks fantastic and there is so much more room – just not enough room for us to stay and all be comfy. The baby will start out in my room for a few months, but will need a room thereafter. It has been such a hassle trying to get the kids to eat neatly, clean up after themselves and put toys away immediately. We are constantly kicked out of our apartment for the brokers to show it to perspective buyers, and the kids and I are struggling to keep this place spotless. Now that the decision to move has been made, we are ready to jump ship.
I am hoping that all the upcoming changes will be an easy transition for my children. A new baby, a new home and let’s just hope my husband doesn’t need a new job! With the way Wall Street is these days, it is a good thing that I am pregnant. If I wanted to get pregnant now, he would most likely be more reluctant.
