WEEK 27
Belly-dancing Baby
There is nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night and having to get out of bed and run around the bedroom trying to get rid of a cramp in my calf. Just as soon as I have managed to stretch out the cramp, another one appears in my foot. At that point I just really want to wake up my husband and get him to massage and stretch my feet. But it is 4 in the morning and my groaning and writhing don’t even stir him. Between bathroom wake-ups, cramps and just being uncomfortable I am dreading the final stretch, as I know it will just get worse.
Marlee and Bradley are enjoying my belly-dancing moves as well these days. They love to lift up my shirt and just watch the baby jab and poke my belly. They think it’s so funny when I tell them that an alien is moving about in there. One interesting thing is that when I rest our guinea pig on my belly, the baby goes nuts moving about inside. Perhaps he or she can hear the little guinea pig’s heart beating – or maybe the baby is just moving about because I have finally sat down and relaxed.
