What an exciting week! My husband and the children came with me for my weekly doctor appointment and had the opportunity to see my sonogram. Marlee was entranced with seeing the baby on the monitor. She understood everything that the doctor was showing us. Bradley had a bit of trouble; I think he thought it looked like an old fuzzy black-and-white TV picture. They both loved seeing the little feet, legs and spine. Marlee is convinced that the baby is a boy since it was making a fist. She could not wait to get back to school to tell everyone that the baby is a boy. Bradley was happy to see the baby and so was Rob. We are all so excited and can’t believe that we have four weeks or less to go.
After the sonogram Rob took the kids to school and I met with the doctor. Nothing is happening as far as the baby coming out soon. The head is down, but not very low. I was a bit disappointed and was hoping the baby would be getting ready to come out, as I am very ready for the baby. I walked all the way home and read up on silly ways to get the baby to come out. I have heard everything from eating spicy foods, taking long walks, eating pineapple and having lots of sex. Nothing really sounds appealing to me. I guess I will just have to be patient — which I am not good at — and wait for the baby to be ready. The reason that I am so desperate for the baby to come out sooner than later is that when the doctor measured the baby, the estimate was 6 pounds, 15 ounces, give or take 10 percent. Well, if that’s the case, I am on course to have over a nine-pound baby if I go full term. They say that you can usually gain a half a pound a week in the last four weeks. That is scary! I do not want to give birth to a toddler, nor have to push out such a big baby. I am anxiously awaiting my doctor’s appointment next week. Till then, I will just keep on walking everywhere.
